Barcelona will take on Malaga in their La Liga campaign at the La Rosaleda on Saturday, Jan. 23, starting 3 PM GMT.
According to the International Business Times, Barcelona has every chance of topping the La Liga charts when they travel to clash with Malaga. Barcelona prolonged their winning run when they beat Athletic Bilbao twice since last week.
“This team has unique ambition and they are prepared to compete in every way and if they have to defend then they do it. Today [Athletic] created very few chances against us. I leave happy with the result,” Barcelona boss Luis Enrique was quoted as saying by FC Barcelona.
Malaga has not managed to beat Barcelona in over a decade now. They also failed to impress in their last match against Sevilla with a 2-1 defeat. “We started off well, conceding few chances to [Sevilla] and maintaining pressure upfront,” Malaga Team Manager Javi Gracia stated after the match.
“We didn’t let their fluid start in the attacking half affect us; when the rival gradually starts to overcome the rival lines and eventually finds space at the back of the defense thanks to the speed of the players upfront. We struggled with this more in the second half.”
According to Goal, Lionel Messi is back at the training arena to prepare for the upcoming clash. Jordi Alba and Aleix Vidal will be out due to injury.
Atletico Madrid will be out of action for at least a week so Barcelona has every chance of taking the top spot.
