Barcelona are all set to visit Cornella to feature in the Barcelona Derby against Espanyol at the Cornella-El Prat Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 2. The year 2015 has been very rewarding for Barcelona and they would like to start their 2016 campaign on winning note.

Barcelona ended the year thumping Real Betis side 4-0 in their own backyard at Camp Nou. Lionel Messi pumped a goal in the 33rd minute in his 500th appearance for the club. Suarez has been in exceptional form, too as he scored two goals to humble the Betis side. Westermann also featured in the scoring list, notes BBC.

Barcelona now stand on top of the table with 38 points sharing the same points with arch rival Atletico de Madrid. The second placed Madrid team, only by goal difference, beat the Rayo Vallecano side 2-0.

As per he BBC reports, Barcelona finished of the year with 180 goals in all competitions to mark a Spanish record.

According to Sofascore, the Luis Enrique team played some extraordinary football to claim five trophies winning the La Liga title, Champions League, Copa del Rey and Club World Cup in 2015. The Catalonian side beat River Plate 3-0 to claim the FIFA Club World Cup Title at the Yokohoma Stadium in Japan.

Espanyol are placed thirteenth in the La Liga Table and it will be difficult for them to beat the in-form Barcelona side.

Luis Enrique commented, “After watching them train this morning I have every reason to be optimistic.”

“The only important thing is to get three points and extend our lead at the top of the table.”

Enrique is optimistic about repeating their form in 2016 as well.
