“Captain America Civil War” is scheduled to hit North American theaters only this week, but die-hard fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are already looking forward to the films slated for release in the next four years. One of the highly-anticipated films in the lineup is “Avengers Infinity War”, which promises the coming together of some 60+ heroes to battle Thanos’ evil plan at galaxy domination.
With the massive cast number, Marvel followers who are both fans of the MCU and Marvel TV heroes may have hoped for the Avengers, the Guardians, agents of SHIELD and the Defenders to finally come together in “Avengers Infinity War”.
However, as promising as the idea might be, directors Joe and Anthony Russo recently shared a statement that crushes this ultimate fan dream.
In an article by Screen Rant, the site shares an interview of the Russos with BadTaste.it. In the transcript, the directors were quoted in saying how hard it is to tell the stories of characters from the big screen alone.
“We have a tough task just telling the stories of the characters who exist [on the big screen] in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, let alone adding the entire Marvel Television universe. […] our focus is on telling the stories of the characters that currently exist on the movie side.”
While the statement is heartbreaking to read, Cinema Blend points out that this is not the first time news of Marvel TV characters being excluded from “Avengers Infinity War” have surfaced. The website details that aside from the difficulty of managing a huge cast, Marvel’s movie and TV departments are managed separately. This entails that bringing characters from both departments will be an equally difficult task.
Still, despite the exclusion of Marvel TV characters from “Avengers Infinity War” being hinted, not all hope can be considered lost.
MovieWeb also shares the same transcript from the Russos interview, and a single line may promise a tiny glimmer of chance.
“Anything is possible in the Marvel Universe. It’s certainly something we’re considering.”
With this, anything is indeed possible. Whether or not we see Daisy Johnson or Jessica Jones in “Avengers Infinity War” remains to be seen.
After all, Marvel and it’s personnel has long been known for their secretive nature.
