Will Thanos finally have his moment in the upcoming “Avengers: Infinity” movie? Fans have caught glimpses of this super villain in past Marvel movies. But he is never seen doing anything that looked important. Will Thanos be the main “Avengers 3” baddie? Or will Marvel only continue to tease fans?
“Avengers” screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely recently talked about Thanos in a sit-down with Huffington Post. “You know, he’s never been the villain in any of the movies,” McFeely admitted. “[But] it’s easy [to give] him good scenes…He’s never been the main character in that way. So giving lots of good screen time to Thanos is paramount and pretty fun.”
According to Collider, Marvel fans have already seen Thanos on screen thrice. He was briefly shown in “The Avengers,” “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” Josh Brolin, who previously voiced Thanos, will reportedly get “plenty of screen time” in the next “Avengers” movie.
“He hasn’t had an amazing scene. I think it’s an advantage ultimately, right? Because people are anticipating this guy coming in and really delivering the goods. So, I think they’re eager, and we just have to deliver it. We don’t have to convince them that he’s gonna be interesting. We just have to execute what has been teased,” the McFeely added.
Meanwhile, both screenwriters said “Avengers 3” would not feature as many characters as previously reported. “If you line up all the character’s who are available to use from the prior Marvel movies, it racks up to about 60 something characters,” said Markus. “[But] there’s not going to be 67 lead parts,” McFeely clarified.
Part 1 of “Avengers: Infinity War” will not hit the big screen until May 4, 2018. Part 2, on the other hand, will come a year later. The second half of “Avengers 3” is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
