The latest Captain America movie showed the Avengers at their most divided yet. Will this division only worsen further as time passes? Will a major hero really die at the hands of an ally in the upcoming Avengers 3 movie?
Part 1 of Avengers: Infinity War will not hit theatres for another two years, though. Details about the movie remain scant. Marvel is also not exactly fond of killing off their major players on screen. However, a character did kill one of his fellow avengers in the latest issue of the Civil War comic books.
The third issue of Civil War II just hit bookstores this week. But it has already upset a lot of fans, because – Spoiler Alert! – Hawkeye would drive an arrow through one of his longtime friends by the end of the issue. Which teammate does he end up killing?
According to New York Daily News, Hawkeye ends up killing none other than his pal, the Hulk. However, fans should not take umbrage on him just yet. As the news site points out, Hawkeye’s action was not done out of spite. The Marvel archer shoots his friend on the head out of mercy. Or at least, what he thinks is mercy.
In the issue in question, Hawkeye kills the Hulk’s human alter ego, Dr. Bruce Banner, with a special arrow Banner himself created out of fear that he might turn into the Hulk again and bring “massive death and destruction” to everyone. What the archer doesn’t know, though, is that he didn’t really need to kill his friend. Banner has been medicating himself to keep his anger at bay for a year now.
Will this shocking death ever play out on the big screen? No word as of yet to confirm this. Stay tuned for updates.
The first part of the Avengers 3 movie will premiere on May 4, 2018. The second half, on the other hand, will not hit the big screen until the following year. Part 2 of Infinity War will premiere on May 3, 2019.
