Day 2 of the Australian Open brings a very busy day for the tennis fans. The day starts with the women’s world number 3, Garbine Mukuruza. She will be facing the unseeded, but talented Anett Kontaveit. The next two matches in Rod Laver Arena feature the power hitting genius Venus Williams who will play against Johanna Konta, and Rafa Nadal, who will face his fellow countryman, and friend, Fernando Verdasco.
Margaret Court Arena will feature another bunch of superstars. Andy Murray plays Alexander Zverev, Madison Keys of USA will play against the unranked Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan.
The night sessions will present the Aussie local hero and former world number 1, Lleyton Hewitt. He will take off against another Aussie young star, James Duckworth.
More to watch out for in Australian Open day 2 are Victoria Azarenka, Simona Halep, Stan Wawrinka, Dmitry Tursunov, Karonlina Pliskova, Ana Ivanovic, Bernard Tomic, John Isner, Jelena Jankovic, among the others.
It can be seen that more or less, most of the seeded players are on the courts today. That also increases the chances of early upsets.
The Big Matches To Look Out For
Lleyton Hewitt vs James Duckworth without saying. This is Lleyton’s last Australian Open, so he will definitely give his very best to make it memorable. And there is James who will also play his best tennis to progress to the next round.
The next big match to look out for is Rafa vs Fernando. The former world number 1 is suffering from injury every now and then, so he has to play his finest tennis from the very beginning. On the other hand, Fernando will try to take advantage of Nadal’s injury. Let’s see what the outcome is!
The Melbourne Park will witness some rising and falling stars today. But we want to know who do you think will win today’s match between Lleyton and James. Let us know, and meanwhile, do not forget to vote on our polls on Twitter. The polls are still open, so cast your vote now!
