The Liverpool Legends will play an exhibition match at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney against the Australian Legends on Thursday, Jan. 7, starting 7.30 PM local time.

The occasion is huge. To see Steven Gerrard taking on the field and dawning the “Red” look is something to look forward to. As per the International Business Times reports, the All-Star teams will feature the likes of Ian Rush, Jamie Carrapher, Luis Garcia, Tony Popovic Tony Vidmar and Robbie Slate.

The Superstar teams will be managed by legendary coaches as well. White Gerard Houllier who was one of the reasons for Liverpool’s successful title campaign will manage the Liverpool Legends while the equally brilliant Graham Arnold will manage the Australian Legends.

Fans can’t wait to see Gerrard taking the field again after he left Anfield last year. He was part of a brilliant 17-year long history at Liverpool.

“Hopefully, there’ll be many more of these occasions,” Skysports quoted Gerrard as saying. “It’s great to be part of an occasion like this, almost like a reunion of players we played with and heroes of mine that I grew up watching.”

“Also, to play for Gerard (Houllier) again is a special occasion for all of us. Hopefully, there’ll be many more in the pipeline when I come back from America.”
