Australian foreign minister Julie Bishop said she’s been “taken aback” by the US president’s remark to the French government’s first lady. Bishop’s statement comes after US President Donald Trump made his state visit in France.

According to Reuters, Bishop criticized Trump’s comments to the French first lady Brigitte Macron. “I’d be taken aback, I think. It’s a rather interesting comment to make,” said the Australian foreign minister when she was asked her thoughts on Trump’s statement.

As recorded in a video, Trump told Macron, “you’re in such good shape.” In a way, Bishop believes it’s inappropriate to say that as a president. “I wonder if she could say the same to him,” Bishop said regarding Trump’s sexist remark.

This isn’t Donald Trump’s first blunder on government relations with Australia. In a previous phone call with the Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull, Trump hung up on a call after they spent 25 minutes of talking. They were supposed to allot a full hour for the call.

Additionally, a leaked tape showed the prime minister mocking the US president at an off-the-record media event. However, Trump claims that he and Turnbull “get along great” back in May after his first meeting with the Australian prime minister.

Also, this isn’t the first time Trump was criticized for his questionably sexist actions. Last month, the president had interrupted his call with the Ireland prime minister to call Caitriona Perry, an Irish Journalist, to the front. Just like what happened with Brigitte Macron, Trump was seen on camera complimenting Perry’s appearance. Similar with the Australia foreign minister’s reaction, Trump was also criticized for his actions toward Perry.

Since Trump became the 45th President of the United States, he has been a controversial figure due to his inappropriate comments and ignoring protocol on his public and media appearances.
