The fourth season of “Arrow” just ended last month. But will fans have to prepare for a big change as early as now? Will the series really have to go on without Stephen Amell for Season 5? Will the actor really leave Oliver Queen behind to play a “Batman” villain instead?
According to Cinema Blend, Amell has no plans to abandon his show “Arrow” for now. However, he did admit he’s open to playing other comic book characters if given the chance. “I think all the superheroes are taken now,” the actor was quoted as saying. “I’ll play The Riddler, okay? It’s a villain, but I like The Riddler.”
The film blog thinks the Riddler is a “very interesting” choice for Amell. “He’s the antithesis of the parts that we’ve seen the actor play in recent years,” Cinema Blend said. Apart from Oliver Queen, the actor has also recently played Casey Jones for the latest “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie.
Both Jones and Queen fit a “very similar” mold. “They’re very physical characters,” Cinema Blend pointed out. “The Riddler, on the other hand, is the polar opposite of that. He’s a villain who uses his brains and, generally speaking, is incapable of handling himself in a physical fight.”
Amell currently plays Green Arrow on the hit CW series. He could take on the same role if DC does decide to hire him for a future movie. However, the actor did earlier confirm that a movie version of his show might not be made soon. “They have said there’s no plan to bring the Green Arrow character to the cinematic universe,” the actor told ComicBook.com.
Which other DC character do you think he should take on? Do you think Stephen Amell will make a good Riddler on the big screen? Or would you rather see him stick to playing Green Arrow?
