Fans were not happy when “Aliens: Colonial Marines” was released. The game was not what the fans were expecting, which was slammed with negative reviews due to poor AI and other bugs. One modder managed to fix these issues and made Colonial Marines playable once again.

The modder by the name of TemplarGFX, the ACM Overhaul mod improves the gameplay of Colonial Marines by increasing the game speed and the AI of Xenomorphs, making them more aggressive. It also made some tweaks on the in-game environment which improves realism and the atmosphere of the game. Aside from these changes, there were also some changes to the lighting, shadow, weapon, ballistics and even the animations of the models. To compensate on the improved speed of the Xenomorphs, the mod has decreased the health of these enemies to make it less hard to kill.

Here are some important information about the ACM Overhaul mod from its page at

“Experience ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’—how it should have been when it came out—heavily balanced and play-tested for exciting, suspenseful and most importantly, FUN gameplay.”

Xenomorph’s have seen the most work fixing their behavior and mechanics to make them truly terrifying face to face, dramatically shifting the tone of the entire campaign.

This State of the Bad-A** Art modification for ACM reworks, reprograms and rebalances Xeno AI, Human AI, Weapon Mechanics, Ballistics, Animations, Shaders, Particles, Decals, Lighting, and engine features to get the best out of the game possible.
