Adele just recently dropped a new single after three long years. Fans have then speculated to whom she dedicates her epic comeback song, “Hello.”

In an exclusive interview with i-D, she talked about being back in the spotlight after three years. During the interview, Adele previewed “Hello” and recalled how the teaser on British TV “semi-broke the Internet.” Just like most fans, the interviewer revealed being teary-eyed upon hearing the song for the first time.

The British singer told the site that the music video was shot in Toronto last October. She said that she enjoyed acting and being directed by award-winning actor and filmmaker, Xavier Dolan.

Adele also explained what “Hello” is all about.

“The song is about hurting someone’s feelings but it’s also about trying to stay in touch with myself, which sometimes can be a little bit hard to do. It’s about a yearning for the other side of me. When I’m away, I really, really miss my life at home. The way that I feel when I’m not in England, is desperation.”

The “Someone Like You” singer revealed that “Hello” is about her desire to come home and to apologize to the people she hurt, including herself. Asked if the British singer was also apologizing to her ex in the song, she immediately told the site, “Oh, god no.”

Adele admitted that she finally closed that chapter. She revealed that she’s thankful for getting over her ex and that the song does not point to a specific person.

“It’s about friends, ex-boyfriends, it’s about myself, it’s about my family. It’s also about my fans as well. I feel like everyone thinks I’m so far away and I’m not. Everyone thinks I live in f*cking America, I don’t,” Adele added.

“Hello” is included in her upcoming album, “25” which is set for release on November 20. To date, the official music video posted on Youtube has almost a hundred million views.
