Adele surprised fans worldwide when she took on Nicki Minaj’s “Monster” rap and Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” in James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke.” And because her video went viral on the web, is there a possibility that she’ll be back for another road trip jam?
According to Variety, Adele’s “Carpool Karaoke” became the most viral late-night video since 2013. In just five days after it was posted on Youtube, the video got more than 42 million views. Although Justin Bieber’s episode is still the record holder for lifetime views, the British singer doubled JB’s first week figures.
Speaking to Vulture, “The Late Late Show’s” Executive Producer Ben Winston admitted that they wanted to air an “entire episode” of it. He mentioned that the first cut of the segment was 54 minutes. Nonetheless, they ensured that the 15-minute episode which aired was the best of the session.
But will they air a part two of the session? Here’s what Winston had to say:
“I think that you’ve got to not take advantage of things, and not make people feel like they’ve seen enough. The best television always leaves you wanting more… If it’s not going to be as good as the first one, I don’t think you should do a second one.”
As mentioned on Harper’s Bazaar, no music celebrity made quite an impact as strong as Adele. Likewise, Winston said that Adele has always been wonderful. He pointed out that the singer’s success didn’t change her.
“She’s a remarkable woman. She is the biggest star, I would say, in the world right now. But yet she’s the most down-to-earth, lovely girl you could meet. I was always struck by how wonderful she was, even then…
You sometimes wonder if success will change someone, but it wasn’t with her. She’s as wonderful as you would hope she would be.“
