There’s a new addition to the Zayn Malik tattoos, and that is a glow-under-UV-light Star Wars lightsaber.

Curiously placed on Zayn’s right middle finger, he now has the perfect excuse to display it prominently without offending people. Zayn Malik has long since been a fan of tattoos. This recent addition would be his 48th tattoo.

Tattoo artist to the celebrities Jonathan “Jon Boy” Valena unveiled Zayn’s newest body art on his Instagram. The New York-based tattoo artist’s list of celebrity clients include Kylie Jenner, Justin Bieber and Chloe Grace Moretz.

Meanwhile, Zayn Malik has always professed his fascination for tattoos. His very first tattoo was a yin yang symbol placed near his  wrist on his left arm. He then notably had his maternal grandfather’s name, Walter, inked in Arabic. After that, he had another Arabic tattoo inked saying “Be true to who you are.”

Though his maternal grandfather had Irish roots, Zayn comes from a Muslim background courtesy of his British Pakistani father. He can also read Arabic.

From snakes to geometric patterns, a gun, numbers, puzzle piece, skulls and animals, Zayn Malik‘s tattoos range from his music influences to his experiences. From cryptic tattoos such as M.S.G. 3-12-12 to BUS1, one can assume that instead of keeping a diary, Zayn has resorted to leaving inks on his body as reminders.

He even went to ink a cartoon version of his ex-fiancee Perrie Edwards on his arm. The two got engaged in 2013 but Zayn reportedly ended the engagement a year after. Unfortunately for him, his right arm tattoo of Perrie was done with a heavy ink, which makes it hard to remove.

Earlier this year, he noticeably covered it in his Pillowtalk video, which had his current girlfriend at the time, Gigi Hadid, in it.

Aside from the Perrie tattoo, Zayn also shocked his fans when he revealed a tattoo on his face. It showed the album art for Mind of Mine. However, it was later revealed as fake. Although he had the Mind of Mine album title inked on his arm. This time, it was a real tattoo.

With Zayn Malik’s lightsaber tattoo, friends, fans, critics and the papparazzi will have to think twice whether Zayn is insulting them or just showing off his perfectly glowing lightsaber.
