Zayn Malik left One Direction in March last year to become a “normal 22-year old” but his real intention of pursuing a solo career has been revealed afterwards. While his former group is currently in hiatus, Malik’s already making a name for himself as his new single, “Pillowtalk,” debuts on UK Top Charts.
His latest song overwhelmingly reaches the top spot on the music downloading site in almost 60 countries after it was released on Friday. According to Standard, the fresh track is currently 23,000 copies ahead of Jonas Blue’s single, “Fast Car.”
Meanwhile, “Pillowtalk’s” music video has garnered an estimated 26 million views on Vevo three days after it was launched. The video clip stars his rumoured girlfriend Gigi Hadid.
Standard added that the young singer has been promoting his single this week. However, he will not be able to appear on The Graham Norton Show and BBC Radio 1 due to his hectic schedule.
Malik’s first ever album, titled “Mind of Mine,” carries the latest single. It will be out on March 25, exactly one year after he left the famous British group.
While Malik’s promising career has been soaring among the listeners, One Direction is heading on the opposite side. Since they have announced their hiatus, a lot of rumours about them going on their own ways have been constantly present in the news.
Aside from that, news about Malik dissing his former group and vice versa have been circulating on the Internet for months. This time, the latest scoop from Hollywood Life revealed that Harry Styles is not impressed with Malik and his soaring solo career.
An insider told the celebrity new site that “Harry thinks it’s called ‘Pillowtalk’ because the song puts you to sleep.” “He really doesn’t think that it is as good as anything that 1D has done with or without Zayn,” adds source.
