Zayn Malik called off his engagement to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards that left her “devastated.”
Us Weekly reported that a source close to Malik said the former 1D singer simply wants to have a fresh start. “He just wanted to move on and start over in all ways,” the insider told Us Weekly.
According to PEOPLE Magazine, the 1D star called Edwards two weeks ago to end the relationship.
“She’s been putting on a brave face, as Little Mix have had promotion to do, but she’s obviously devastated,” the site wrote quoting a source.
“Perrie’s being supported by her bandmates, but she’s really in pieces about this.”
An E! News source, on the other hand, said the blonde beauty is “doing fine.”
“Her friends are rallying around her. She’s doing fine. They split a few weeks ago. Her close friends have told her she’s better off without him…He hasn’t treated her right for a long time,” the insider said.
In an interview with E! Online, the Little Mix singer was asked how she’s doing after the split. She simply said, “I’m good, thank you.”
Edwards has also taken off her diamond engagement ring, as seen in her recent photos shared by her friends on Instagram.
The couple first met in 2011 and started dating in 2012. They have been engaged since August 2013. Since then, there have been rumors of trouble in their relationship. Edwards stood by Malik amid speculations that he cheated on her and even after he quit 1D in March. At the time, “saving their relationship” was cited as one of the factors of his decision to leave the band.
Perrie and bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson and Jade Thirlwall are in Los Angeles for the promotional tour of their new single “Black Magic.”
The Daily Mail said Zayn is also LA but the former couple has not seen each other.
