Zayn Malik has just dropped his third single from his upcoming solo album, “Mind of Mine.” Is the song, “BeFoUr” a jab at One Direction?
According to Hollywood Life, the song could be about his life before he left the band. The incriminating lyrics? “Time for me to move up / So many hours have gone / Heart beats the pump of my blood / No strings for you to pull on.” Was Malik trying to retell how controlled he felt when he was still with One Direction?
Malik, who is trying to launch a solo career as Zayn, earlier revealed that he was unhappy with the band from the start. “From the first year, I never really wanted to be there,” he previously admitted. Zayn also said some nasty things about his band’s music in a sit-down with Mail Online. “There was never any room for me to experiment creatively in the band…That’s not music that I would listen to. Would you listen to One Direction, sat at a party with your girl? I wouldn’t,” he said.
Meanwhile, his fans seem to not mind the speculated diss in “BeFoUr.” In another report, Hollywood Life says, his fans are really digging his new song. Fans are reportedly “totally losing their minds” over it. They are particularly in love with the “super sick high note” featured in the song.
Zayn’s first single off his debut album, “Pillowtalk,” made him the first British singer to debut at No. 1 in Billboard Hot 100. This is a feat his former band has yet to achieve. “Mind of Mine” is set to hit record stores on March 25. The date also marks his first anniversary of going solo. Rumours of a split have been hounding his former band since he left.
