Xiaomi Mi 5 rumors, speculations and leaks over the past few months have painted an elaborate picture of what fans can expect when the device is unveiled on February 24.
To further confirm the circulating speculations, a latest leak reveals the retail packaging of the Xiaomi Mi 5 handset. NowhereElse shared images of it which confirms the device’s form factor and color options. As per the leak, potential buyers will have the option of pink and gold colours along with the standard black and white variants. The gold and pink shades look really neat.
The leak also throws light on the handset’s design. As noted by Tech Radar, the front panel clearly visible on the packaging sports a hardware home button. Tech aficionados may remember this from a previous leak which surfaced sometime last month. The image further confirms that the Mi 5 will indeed sport a home button, which will also double up as a fingerprint scanner.
Just last week, Xiaomi’s Global VP Hugo Barra shared a teaser image on his facebook page and captioned it: “Mi 5 is almost here! It’s Xiaomi’s first product launch in 2016, happening on February 24.” He later also revealed that the company will be hosting a media event at the MWC 2016 to be held in Barcelonna, while the Mi 5 will be launched at around the same time in Beijing.
Barra said, “We’re holding an invitation-only media preview on February 24, the very same day of our launch event in Beijing, and I’ll be on stage,”
It will be interesting to see whether the Xiaomi Mi 5 will indeed boast two different variants, as is being widely rumored. An all-metal premium model of Mi 5 is expected to feature a 5.2-inch display with 2560 x 1440 resolutions, an Octa-core Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB RAM. Speculations also hint at a 16MP primary camera and a 13MP secondary snapper.
Well, the wait isn’t far away, come February 24 and fans will witness the arrival of Xiaomi Mi 5 on the tech scenario.
