“X Factor” UK 2016 will feature several changes for its 13th season and the show’s creator, Simon Cowell, could be the one responsible for them.

The judges’ panel is getting a major overhaul as “X Factor” UK welcomes Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne, and Louis Walsh, Mail Online reported. Scherzinger’s return comes on the heels of Rita Ora’s tweet about her departure from the show.

Was it a case of favouritism? Sources revealed that Ora walked away when she found out that Cowell wanted Scherzinger over her, the Mirror wrote. Ora reportedly walked away from a £1.5 million (AU$2.9 million) “X Factor” deal, the publication revealed.

Cowell is responsible for choosing this year’s panel of judges, the publication revealed. He supposedly disclosed to people that he would ditch Ora’s deal if he could get Scherzinger back on the show. A source revealed that Rita Ora chose to leave when she found this out.

“Simon offered Rita her old job back but always knew he’d withdraw it if he could get Nicole. Now Rita has found out about it and has claimed that she has ‘quit’ so that it doesn’t look like she was pushed,” a source said. Ora isn’t the only judge the show dropped this year. “X Factor” UK also bid goodbye to judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. However, in her case, other people in the production didn’t want her back.

Aside from Scherzinger, former host Dermot O’Leary is also making a comeback. This was revealed early on after discussions on his return became final, Digital Spy wrote. Cowell is also happy that O’Leary and his dancing are back on “X Factor” UK.

“I’m very flattered to be asked back to The X Factor and am currently dusting off my dancing shoes. There is nothing more exciting than hosting live TV on a Saturday night,” O’Leary stated.

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson was rumoured to join “X Factor” UK. However, he appears to have his hands full this summer with his “mini-takeover of American TV.”
