If there’s one thing we love about the WWE, it’s its unpredictability. And come WWE SummerSlam 2015, expect surprising match ups to blow up the show.
The next WWE pay-per-view event is still a few weeks from now but the entertainment company is working double to make sure SummerSlam 2015 will not disappoint fans. It seems like it though, as last Monday’s Raw episode found interesting story arcs that could pave the way for the August 23, 2015 showdown.
After an appearance at WWE Battleground 2015 on Sunday, The Undertaker made his return on Monday trying to explain why he interfered during the Brock Lesnar vs Seth Rollins title match for the WWE Championship that cost The Beast Incarnate the belt. Lesnar then entered the ring and made his own bid, and before long all hell broke lose in the ring.
The rebirth of their feud, which started last year when Lesnar broke The Undertaker’s Wrestlemania streak, seemingly establishes a must-watch face off on SummerSlam 2015.
As for Rollins, he may have found a new rival in John Cena.
Both champions in their own right — Rollins with the WWE Championship belt and Cena, the United States Champ — the two faced off at Raw, wherein the Hustle, Loyalty, Respect wrestler told Rollins he is no champ. Cena told The Architect off, saying he only finds ways to escape with the belt and does not really fight his opponents, while he has been defending his belt with the best challengers head on.
Rollins proved Cena right, and instead left the ring with his belt, and again paving the way for a possible match up of Champ vs Champ at SummerSlam.
“WWE doesn’t often do champion-versus-champion on an event of this scale, but there’s reason to believe things will work out that way this time,” Bleacher Report noted.
While it’s too early to tell whether these two match ups will be headlining the August PPV event, fans will definitely look forward to seeing Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker and John Cena vs Seth Rollins at Barclays Center, New York at WWE SummerSlam 2015.
