There aren’t a lot of wrestlers out there like Stone Cold Steve Austin. From winning championship after championship to being one of the most iconic wrestlers in the WWE universe, Austin 3:16 is a true pillar in the wrestling world. And now, he embarks on yet another milestone in his career — being the “WWE 2K16” cover wrestler.

In a recent interview with, Austin talked about the video game — his cover, the gameplay, game modes and his dream matchup.

According to Stone Cold, being chosen for the cover “caught me completely off guard”.

“I was very surprised when I got the phone call. You know, I figured I’d been gone for such a long time; it’s been a while,” the wrestler revealed.

“I think it really speaks to how Austin and The Attitude Era resonated with the fans back then and, obviously, it resonated enough for 2K to pick a guy like me…At the end of the day, you really gotta thank the fans for being there for us. It’s an extreme honor.”

Following the lead of The Rock and John Cena as “WWE 2K” cover wrestlers the past two years, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he feels honored especially since he is a fan of both.

“Being in there with The Rock and Cena is great, but they just got trumped by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin — and I say that with all due respect.”

When asked what his expectations of the game would, considering it will feature the largest roster any WWE game ever had, Austin reveals he hasn’t seen the entire list of wrestlers but he is interested to see who will be returning from the past.

“I’m looking to see who they dig back in the history and bring up. With 120 playable characters, that’s almost insane. And from what I know about the game, this one is going to be the coolest one ever.”

He also added that he would love to fight Andre the Giant again, be it in the ring or on video game. Stone Cold confirmed his respect for the iconic WWF wrestler, adding that he would love to stage a match up either at the Madison Square Garden or Rosemont Horizon in Chicago, “my favorite building to work in for acoustics.”

“WWE 2K16” is set to release for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on October 27, 2015.
