“Winds of Winter” author George R.R. Martin has dropped another chapter of the much-awaited book.
GRRM has attended the recent Balticon 50, the annual convention that celebrates science fiction and fantasy literature, art, and community. He talked about “Winds of Winter,” but its release date has never been brought up, the International Business Times reported.
Fans have tried to avoid asking the most burning question – when will “Winds of Winter” be released? The book has been speculated to be available in stores this year, but Martin is not done with it. The author has already released five books in “A Song of Ice and Fire” series and fans have been waiting for the sixth book in which “Game of Thrones” Season 6 is supposed to be based upon.
Earlier this month, GRRM dropped another chapter of “Winds of Winter” wherein he also teased on his official website: “The sample will give you a taste. For the rest, you will need to wait.” It also comes with a disclaimer for fans: “And no, just to spike any … rumours, changing the sample chapter does NOT mean I am done.”
Meanwhile, Martin read to fans at Balticon another chapter from the “Winds of Winter.” The members of the audience were first given the chance to choose between three chapters, heavy.com wrote. Fans picked the chapter about Damphair Greyjoy and then they were also given the option to hear a chapter about Mercy (Arya’s alter ego) or some ancient history of Westeros called “Sons of the Dragon.” When fans screamed for the Damphair chapter, GRRM sent the children out of the event room and said, “The Greyjoys have it – you sick motherfuckers.”
George R.R. Martin is also working on unnamed projects for HBO, iBT wrote. However, he did not made any mention of it at the event.
Heavy.com also reported that some fans have taken notes as the author reads the chapters of “The Winds of Winter” book. You can check out some of the fans summaries of the readings here. You may also click here for the chapters that Martin has released so far.
