George R.R. Martin might have cancelled the Winds of Winter release date due to his Mexico tour. Here’s everything we know so far about the sixth novel.

Fans have been wondering when the author will launch the much awaited book. The latest update on his Not A Blog journal reveals that he is still working on the book.

The author also wrote that he will be visiting the Old Mexico. Could this be the reason why the novel is still a work in progress?

According to Martin, he will be there for the Guadalajara International Book Fair. While many must be waiting for a surprise Winds of Winter release date, he said later that he is still working on it.

“This is my last scheduled event for 2016. My appearance schedule for 2017 is very limited and will remain so until WINDS is completed. So if you want to meet me or get a book signed, this will be the last chance for a good few months…” Read the full statement here.

It has been five years since the writer released the book A Dance with Dragons. Fans are expecting that the sixth novel in A Song of Ice and Fire series will be out next year.

Martin did not specify the exact phase of the progress. It might be at the editing stage or proofreading stage. He is yet to tell the public.
