Fans have been waiting patiently for Winds of Winter to come out. There might be another reason for avid supporters to hold their breath. The latest rumor revealed that the book will be out after Game of Thrones is finished.

George R.R. Martin has been mum about the real status of the novel except that the book is on its way to the final touches. However, several media outlets began speculating that the book will be out in August.

A previous report indicated that Martin will announce the release date at the WorldCon 2016. He invited his fans to attend the event.

Additionally, the writer said thru his blog that he will do an autograph signing for the lucky visitors. However, he did not confirm whether the book will be out this month.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the publisher HarperCollins debunked the August release date rumors. HarperCollins head of marketing and communications in Australia Jaki Arthur said further that Martin will make an announcement when the right time comes.

“There’s no denying millions of fans want it. But we don’t know when it will happen. We know George is busy writing it and we will announce the publication date once he finishes,” quotes the site.

The news might crush fans’ hope for the release date announcement at WorldCon, but it also indicates that Winds of Winter is real and fans just need to extend their patience.

On the other hand, The Hollywood Reporter (via QT) noted that Game of Thrones will wrap up after Season 8. HBO programming president Casey Bloys said that the showrunners are adamant with the decision.

HBO’s longest-running program will only have seven episode come Season 7. However, the number of episodes for Season 8 is still unknown.

Will Martin release the sixth book of A Song of Ice and Fire after GoT? The author is yet to confirm the new speculation.
