The wait is finally over as Windows 10 Mobile, which was released in March, is now rolled out to Microsoft’s eligible handsets, Lumia 640 and Lumia 735. Since the rollout is happening in phases, it will take some time before everyone who owns the phones receives the much anticipated update over-the-air (OTA).
Reports about the update were confirmed on AT&T’s forum through WindowsCentral. Verizon Wireless also announced the software has started rolling to Lumia 735 on its support page, as was reported by WindowsCentral.
Users will have to check manually if the upgrade is available for their device by downloading the Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor from Windows Store. Otherwise, they can check for the update by searching through the device’s Settings > Phone update > Check for updates.
Released in April 2015, Lumia 640 came loaded with Windows 8.1, while Lumia 735 was also designed with the same software, but the device was launched a year earlier in September 2014. Going by the specifications, NeuroGadget recapitulates the boastful features in both handsets.
Lumia 640 has an IPS LCD 5-inch screen with support for a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels at 294 ppi. It has a glossy plastic exterior shield with curvy edges. As for its internal specifications, the device is fuelled by Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processor and a Qualcomm MSM8926 Snapdragon 400 chipset.
Lumia 735, on the other hand, has a smaller screen size than the Lumia 640, measuring 4.7-inch with a higher pixel density of 312ppi. It should be noted that devices running on Windows 10 Mobile OS will now have a maximum screen size of 9 inches.
The camera features of Lumia 735 include a 6.7 MP Carl Zeiss shooter on the rear and a 5MP camera on the front. What’s common in both devices is they have an in-built 8GB memory, which is expandable up to 128GB.
