While fans saw the tragic end of Bea Smith in the last season of Wentworth, many still hoped to see her returning in Wentworth season 5.  Nevertheless, the show’s bosses did explain that the character is no longer coming back.

Wentworth executive producer Jo Porter dropped quite a bombshell confirming that Bea Smith’s return in Wentworth season 5 is almost impossible.  Thus, fans should stop hoping for her comeback because everything was planned “for dramatic purpose.”

Danielle Cormack’s Bea Smith has been a mainstay of this prison drama series until her exit at the end of Season 4. We saw her entering the premises of Wentworth in season 1 after being charged with the attempted murder of her husband.

Starting at the bottom of Wentworth’s hierarchy, Bea was forced to learn how to survive in prison.  She soon turned herself into a ruthless inmate and became one of the most powerful characters. Later, Bea developed rivalries with Franky Doyle, Jacs Holt, Kaz Proctor and Joan Ferguson.

Even though during the last episode of the fourth season saw Bea killed off, the expectation of her return to the forthcoming season has always been strong.

The rumor mill started churning Bea Smith’s return stories after Danielle Cormack posted a photograph on her Instagram page.

The photograph featured the 45-year-old actress still hanging out with her former co-star Kate Jenkinson, who we know as Allie Novak in Wentworth.  No doubt, this innocent post by Cormack provided endless grist to the rumor mill.

The post read: “BAE and me discussing seahorses #mydeer #ballieAntics #curlsNgirls #thanksmelbourne @katejenko – Thank you for having us to frolic @licknewzealand.”

Dedicated viewers of the Aussie series then promptly assumed that the photograph is posted just to let the world know that two are eventually coming back to the Wentworth season 5.

However, busting all the rumors the show’s executive producer, Jo Porter recently clarified via News Australia:

“It is always an incredibly difficult decision to say farewell to a much-loved and revered character like Bea Smith. Which is why this story-line has had such a huge impact on us all and we are sure fans will feel the same. This decision was particularly hard as it meant also saying goodbye to Danielle Cormack.”

Porter further stated that Bea’s exit would allow for new characters and plots to take center stage during Wentworth season 5.
