Another character in Wentworth Season 5 might not come back in the next installment.
Nicole Da Silva, who played Franky Doyle in the Australian TV show, might not reprise her role next season. Main character Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack) earlier bid goodbye to Wentworth fans in the finale of Season 4.
In an interview with Diva Magazine, the actress was asked about her comeback in the Foxtel show. She neither denied nor confirmed her appearance in Wentworth Season 5. “Ah, spoiler! I would get a stern call if I were to confirm or deny that. But I appreciate your tenacity in asking,” she said.
Da Silva is currently portraying a major role in another Aussie new dramedy called Doctor Doctor. Speculations indicated that this might keep her in tight schedule for Wentworth Season 5. The actress admitted that playing a role that is very much different from Franky is something that requires another side of her. Da Silva added that she wanted to explore comedy further.
Diva magazine, however, mentioned that Da Silva was spotted heading to Melbourne where Wentworth is being filmed. This could mean that she might still appear in Season 5.
In the Season 4 finale, the bad-inmate-turned-good Franky helped top dog rival Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack) in her fight to stop the governor. Bea was killed by Joan Ferguson (Pamela Rabe) during her final attempt to foil their plans.
Considering Franky’s role, rumors indicate that the tattooed inmate will come back in Wentworth Correctional Facility to avenge Bea’s death. Apparently, Wentworth Season 5 will revolve around avenging Bea’s death.
Da Silva had several nominations for her portrayal of Franky Doyle in Wentworth. She won the Most Outstanding Performance in the ASTRA Awards in 2014 for the role. Da Silva’s character has been compared to Orange Is The New Black character Stella Carlin (Ruby Rose). “Ruby Rose is amazing. But sorry, there’s only room for one tattooed prison bae in our lives and it’s the sassy, vulnerable, tough and sexy Franky Doyle,” Metro magazine wrote.
