Xander Beck (Josh Helman) is poised to return in season 2 episode 4 of “Wayward Pines,” various reports state. The character was trapped outside the fence at the end of the first episode called “Enemy Lines” which introduced Jason Patrick’s Theo Yedlin character.

Day Herald and Movie News Guide point to Spoiler TV that mentions that Josh Helman (“X-Men: Apocalypse”) will return as Xander Beck. IMDB.com also supports the information. Helman is credited to be appearing till at least episode 10 of season 2. “Trapped outside the fence at the end of the first episode, Xander returns to Wayward Pines – bringing someone unexpected back with him who helps him learn more about the Abbies’ intentions,” the description at Spoiler TV reads. This can turn out to be quite the surprise for “Wayward Pines” as the identity of this “someone” is not known yet.

However, a look at the cast list of episode 4 can give clues as to which character is being talked about. IMDB shows that actor Tim Griffin, who played Adam Hassler in season 1, will return as the character in this episode. In the official promo, we see Xander Beck being attacked by a bearded man with a knife. His face is partially obscured by overgrown hair in addition to his haggard, dirty appearance. The guy seems to have spent some harrowing time in the woods.

This might be the Adam Hassler character. The last time we saw him, his group, which had travelled to San Francisco, was attacked by Abbies. Hassler must have survived somehow and is now being brought back to Wayward Pines, thanks to Xander Beck.

This brings us to Mitchum and his plans. Season 2 episode 4 is titled “Exit Strategy” and for good reason. CJ Mitchum (Djimon Hounsou) will gather a bunch of people for a risky but brave expedition outside the walls of Wayward Pines to expand humanity on earth once again. Dr. Theo Yedlin’s protests against such an excursion will go to deaf ears. Mitchum’s group will likely end up being slaughtered by the Abbies.

There will also be a confrontation between Rebecca (Nimrat Kaur) and Megan Fisher (Hope Davis) as the former tries to help a young girl called Lucy who is trying to escape a sick Wayward Pines tradition. Lucy is played by Emma Tremblay, the elder sister of “Room” actor Jacob Tremblay.

“Exit Strategy” airs on June 15. Watch the promo below.
