Was a “Harry Potter” prequel movie really leaked recently? Did it really reveal an epic fight between Harry’s dad, James and Severus Snape?
According to Entertainment Weekly, the leaked prequel is not official. It was just a fan-made video posted on YouTube earlier this month. However, despite being just made by fans, Buzzfeed pointed out its high quality. “With stellar visual effects, impeccable casting, and a carefully crafted script, it’s wands-down the best 25 minutes of your day,” the social news site claimed.
In an interview with Buzzfeed, director Justin Zagri talked about how the prequel, “Severus Snape and the Marauders,” came to be. “I did a poll on our Facebook page with a few story options, and it was almost unanimous that the fans wanted a story about the Marauders. So, I read the books again, did some research, and came up with a story that I feel had something to say,” Zagri said. The short film follows Snape and the Marauders after they graduated from Hogwarts in 1978. The whole prequel was reportedly shot in four days. But post production took almost a year to complete. “It’s a slow but rewarding process, as you get to see every piece slowly come together,” Zagri told BuzzFeed.
The “Harry Potter” series does have an official prequel, though. ”Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” is set to hit theaters on Nov. 18. Will it be as “epic” as Zagri’s short film? Stay tuned for updates.
Meanwhile, Danielle Radcliffe, who played the movie’s titular character, recently posted a throwback photo of him and “Harry Potter” co-star Matthew Lewis. According to Huffington Post, Radcliffe seems to have posted the photo in support of Lewis’ new show. You can catch Lewis in Season 2 of “Happy Valley” on Netflix.
