The identity of Negan’s victim will remain a mystery until Walking Dead Season 7 premieres. Last season ended with quite the cliffhanger.

The show’s latest finale episode ended right before Negan was about to kill someone from Rick’s group. Fans have been guessing who the unlucky character is for months now. But could Negan have killed more than one person?

According to ComicBook.com, fans have been trying to deduce who Negan killed based on which actors were seen on set during Season 7’s filming. However, producer Greg Nicotero insists this might not be an effective tactic.

“It  doesn’t necessarily mean that we’re shooting in order of the episodes,” Nicotero told IGN.

This might mean certain members of Rick’s group would disappear throughout the season. Could he had been hinting Negan would kill more than one person next season?  Nicotero kept mum on the matter. Fans might have to wait for the Walking Dead Season 7 to return in October to find out.

In a separate report, ComicBook.com said Nicotero earlier defended their decision to end Season 6 before revealing who Negan chose to kill. He said their team chose to go on that direction so as to close one chapter and move the story forward. “It propels our people,” he explained. “It affects our people profoundly, as it does in the comic book. That changes everyone’s direction.”

“The main thing about Season 7 is establishing that the world isn’t what everybody thinks it is,” Nicotero added. “At the end of Season 6, Rick was so confident. ‘We’re just going to knock out that outpost, we’re going to [expletive] these guys up before they [expletive] us up,’ and it ends with him going, ‘Heh, oh well, I had no idea. What I perceived as the world is not even close to what the reality of the world is,’ and Negan’s there to show him that.”
