“The Walking Dead” has been on the air for almost six years now. However, several of the characters from the original comic books have yet to make an appearance on the show. Now that the hit AMC series is about to begin its seventh season, will some of these characters finally make it to the small screen?
The show’s executive producer, Greg Nicotero, did say next season will usher in a new chapter for the series. Will this “new chapter” also involve more characters from the show’s source material? Neither Nicotero nor AMC itself has confirmed this. Nonetheless, fans continue to speculate about who the show might introduce next.
Wet Paint even dedicated an entire feature on all the characters and plot lines absent from the show so far. Their list included one seemingly important character from the comic books: Alpha.
According to Wet Paint, in the comic books, Rick Grimes and his friends will cross paths with a group called Whisperers. Alpha is that group’s leader, and she is a force to be reckoned with. Under her leadership, the Whisperers decapitated residents of various safe zones and colonies around the area and used these severed heads to mark borders. She even took Rick’s son, Carl, prisoner.
However, Comic Book Resources pointed out a slight complication with regard to Alpha’s possible appearance on the show. According to the comics blog – Spoiler alert for comic book readers! – Negan killed her in the latest issue of “The Walking Dead” comic books.
In Issue#156, the two post-apocalyptic leaders finally clash and Alpha is defeated. She may be dead on print but Alpha could still be alive on screen. Will she finally show up in the show’s next installment? Fans might have to wait until near the end of the year to find out.
The seventh season of “The Walking Dead” is set to premiere on AMC this October.
