“The Walking Dead” Season 6 is about to return in a few weeks. Reports mentioned that new character Paul “Jesus” Monroe is set to make his debut in the second half of the season. What will his character bring to the show?
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, creator Robert Kirkman teased details on what fans can expect with the arrival of Jesus on the show. He noted that this character is a “complete badass.”
“Jesus is just such a fun character to write in the comics. At this point in the life of the series, my thought is the apocalypse has been going on for so long, the people you encounter in your day-to-day life have to be extremely skilled. And they’ve been surviving for a reason, whether they were at a place like Alexandria that’s very safe, or they’re a great leader of their group and somewhat sadistic but in control of their group like Negan, or someone who’s an absolute, complete badass like Jesus.
But how will Rick & co. react to his arrival? How will his character bring change to the show this season? Here’s what Kirkman had to say:
“He’s smart, quick, very athletic. He’s kinda been surviving on his feet. He’s going to be bringing a lot to the show. There’s some cool stuff coming with him.”
“The Walking Dead” mid-season premiere will be on Valentine’s Day, February 14. In another report by Entertainment Weekly, Kirkman mentioned that the story will pick up where the characters were last seen.
“We pick up right in that moment. Alexandria is overrun. Rick and the kids are all covered in guts trying to get through the crowd. Everyone is where we last saw them, and things get worse from there.”
Although Alexandria has been overtaken by zombies, it doesn’t mean survivors won’t get shelter, the site noted. However, things are always expected to get worse on the show. It was previously reported that a lot of people will die in Episode 9.
