It’s time to go VS! Rumors are rife that Victoria’s Secret (VS) Sale 2016 will be 60% off. Around April this year, Victoria’s Secret’s parent company made the announcement that the lingerie chain would be streamlined to concentrate on three business units, namely, lingerie, beauty and the signature “Pink” line. It was reported that VS would be phasing out swimwear along with its print catalog this year, as a result of giving importance to its “core merchandise categories.”
The buzz has been making the rounds for almost a month now, and VS finally confirmed that they will stop selling swimwear, clothing and accessories. Glamour reported that the company released the following statement:
“In order to better focus our resources on core merchandise categories, we have decided to eliminate non-core businesses, including swim, in our Victoria’s Secret lingerie business and shoes, accessories and apparel that were offered in our digital channel but not in stores.”
Calling swim a “flat-ish business over the past many years,” VS CFO Stuart Burgdoerfer clarified that the retailer’s departure from swimwear will facilitate “accelerated growth” in the other three areas. What does that indicate? Well, it just might be a blessing in disguise, as there is good news incorporated in this bad news.
A mega sale is announced on VS’ entire online inventory of swimwear. From one-pieces, two-pieces, coverups and more, the prices are cut down to more than half (up to 60 %). One can’t deny that for beach goers, it is indeed carnival time. The sale can be accessed on the company’s official website Victoria’s Secret.
Will this new move of the crowned lingerie brand prove to be a success? Or will VS lose many valued customers in the bargain?
