News of the show’s final run has saddened fans. However, the producers of Vampire Diaries Season 8 promise an ending worthy of their support and love through the years. Hence, get ready for one last ride on the emotional TVD roller coaster.

Fans have yet to get over the fact that Vampire Diaries Season 8 is the last for their beloved series. Then again, it paved the way for various speculations on how the series would end. As expected, many are eager to see if Nina Dobrev would return. Hence, Elena would wake up from the sleeping spell placed upon her. However, it is uncertain if producers would heed the call of fans and bring her back although they do know how important her character is to TVD. Yet, another consideration is if the actress would consider reprising her role.

While her return still stands in limbo at this time, showrunner Julie Plec and co-creator Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec had promising words to say about how the series ends.

“Speaking only for myself, the ideal finale to me is Friday Night Lights, where you have loved and worshipped a show for all these years, you get to come back, celebrate the characters, finish up their journeys, and send everyone out with a feeling of, ‘My god I’m so grateful that I got to know these people,’” Plec told Entertainment Weekly.

Williamson cited his favorite ending came from Breaking Bad. For him, it was satisfying albeit tragic. In a way, it said thank you to the audience. This concept appealed to Williamson as he felt it offered them a reward for their loyalty in watching a show over the years.

Hence, fans should already have a tissue box on hand when it premieres on October 21. Regardless of how the Vampire Diaries Season 8 ends, it promises to bring out all the sad and wonderful emotions only TVD can elicit.
