The first episode of The Vampire Diaries Season 7 introduced viewers to what might be a beautiful relationship between Stephen and Caroline. Throughout the show’s seven outings, they’ve both been there for each other. Now they’re relationship has grown into something beyond the usual innocent flirting.

The finale of The Vampire Diaries Season 7 was a culmination of the innocent flirting that went down in the season’s first episode. In the finale episode, Stefan and Caroline sealed their relationship with a passionate kiss.

Caroline and Stefan had been together before, but for some reasons things didn’t work out and they had to break up. Caroline was engaged to Alaric for a while, and even that didn’t work out. Is Caroline ready fall in love again? It appears that actress Candice King is excited about Steroline finally “happening” in The Vampire Diaries Season 8.

“Caroline and Stefan, locking lips in the season finale! I hope that when we go back it’s a good, happy healthy relationship for them both,” King said excitedly in an interview with E! News.

She added that she’s thrilled Stefan and Caroline are finally together and that she finds their relationship “really beautiful.”

It’s not just King who’s happy about this development in Stefan and Caroline’s coupling. Even The Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec is shipping the two.

“I’d really like to see Caroline and Stefan enjoy some of that comfort for as long as we can eek it out,” Plec told TV Line.

But much like every other couple in the series, Stefan and Caroline are not going to have their happy ending that easily. While they may have enjoyed a moment of peaceful bliss in the season 7 wrapper, it will only last until “they have to stumble across another obstacle.”

“Everything’s indefinite in that people get together, people reconcile, people fight, and it’s all bound to change,” actor Paul Wesley shared.

“That’s what a TV series is so you can never quite plan on everything being perfect, peachy [forever].”

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will return to The CW this fall.
