Is Nina Dobrev’s return on “Vampire Diaries” already a no go? Is Ian Somerhalder’s wife Nikki Reed trying to halt her character’s return to the show?

It was previously rumoured that Reed was more than “relieved” when Dobrev left the show last year. However, with the recent reports suggesting Dobrev’s return for one last season, will Reed oppose her reuniting with her ex, Somerhalder, on screen? Will this make Reed feel threatened? Did the actress really stop Nina Dobrev’s return?

According to Hollywood Life, none of this is true. “The idea of Ian and Nina reuniting on screen for ‘The Vampire Diaries’ doesn’t bother her one bit. She has no issues with this whatsoever,” a source told the gossip news site. “Nikki and Ian are so in love. There’s nothing he could possibly do to upset her…[The couple will be] celebrating their one year anniversary on April 26. And that’s what [Nikki is] most looking forward to for the time being.”

The source did not confirm if bad blood still remains between the former lovebirds. However, the source said both Somerhalder and Dobrev are willing to “suck it up” for at least another season. “The show…put them on the map. For [the show’s executive producer] Julie Plec and the other writers…they feel like they owe it to them to suck it up and send the show off any way they want to send it off,” the source said. “At the end of the day, they are professional, and that would win out over any other drama.”

Meanwhile, Plec recently told TV Line Season 8 might not be the last for the show. “Once we get into breaking Season 8…we’ll really get a sense of where we are with these characters and with this world…If we feel strongly that we need to keep going, we’ll advocate for that,” she said.
