Today’s “Vampire Diaries” episode will take us one step closer to the dreaded finale where Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) makes the “ultimate sacrifice” for Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham). Well, what sacrifice will he have to make? The question is definitely keeping us awake at night. However, episode 20 may hold some clues and Damon fans should be worried since it appears that he may be on his way to make a “fateful decision” that will turn everything around.

Bonnie has a few hours left until she meets her end and the team has amped up their efforts in order to get a cure which may or may not exist. The unlikely team-ups bring Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) back into the picture while Caroline and Alaric have stepped out to put in their efforts to save their friend. The synopsis on the official CW website teases:

With Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) life at stake and an uphill battle ahead of them, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) lead the charge to save Bonnie before her condition worsens. Stefan (Paul Wesley) reluctantly teams up with Matt (Zach Roerig) for the sake of Bonnie and uncovers the truth behind Matt’s anger towards him. Elsewhere, determined to help her best friend, Caroline (Candice King) joins Alaric (Matt Davis) on a mission and quickly realises how much she’s missed her former supernatural lifestyle. Finally, after their plan takes an unexpected turn, Damon makes a fateful decision that will forever change his relationship with Bonnie.”

It will be interesting to see what turn does Alaric and Caroline’s relationship take when she realises how much she would want her supernatural life. And fans have been rooting for Staroline for a long time now. Could the showrunners be building up to that? Also, Matt finally expressing his anger toward Stefan could either completely break or make their friendship. But like us, what may have gripped your attention is the decision that Damon makes that impacts his relationship with Bonnie. Given Damon’s history of decision-making, it does sound very ominous!
