‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 Caroline Written Off the Show? Candice King Officially Leaves Production

Everyone’s favorite blondie vampire in “The Vampire Diaries” season 7, Caroline Forbes, is taking off a much-needed break to tend to her mommy duties.

E! Online exclusively reports that actress Candice King has officially taken her maternity leave and temporarily leaves production of the series.

According to the website, the news comes straight from series co-creator Julie Plec who said that Candice has finished filming her scenes for the season. Plec was further quoted by the website in saying:

“She hasn’t given birth yet. She’s due in a couple of weeks. But she’ll be back for the end of the season.”

The absence of the actress will also mean that her character won’t be seen on the show for a time. However, according to E!, Plec shared that Candice was able to shoot scenes until episode 15 so she would only be gone for about four episodes. Since the show usually leaves out other characters in certain episodes, then the absence of Caroline on a few of them is only normal.

It can be recalled that after Candice announced that she was pregnant, “The Vampire Diaries” creators were able to make way for a story line that will allow Caroline to be pregnant on the show, even if she was a vampire. By the power of the Gemini coven dedicated at preserving their lineage, the Gemini twins that Jo (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) was carrying were transferred to Caroline’s womb before Jo was killed.

In relation to the babies, Fashion & Style reports that the twins will bring Caroline and Alaric (Matt Davis) together. However, the website relays that the development between the two’s relationship will be tainted when Caroline learns of Alaric’s plans for the babies.

However, if Caroline and Alaric’s relationship is teased to blossom, what does this mean for Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline?

Design & Trend reports vaguely that Caroline “will struggle to move on from Stefan.” This begs the question on whether Stefan will be a totally different person when he comes out of that Phoenix Stone.

“The Vampire Diaries” returns on January 29, Friday, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
