The reason of Stefan-Caroline breakup in “The Vampire Diaries” has been finally revealed.
TVD Executive producer Caroline Dries disclosed that Valerie is part of the reason of the split, but she also stressed that there is a lot more to the story.
“Valerie is part of the reason, but it’s a much bigger, more emotional, legit reason. It’s beyond petty jealousy or Stefan cheating on Caroline or anything like that,” Dries told TVLine.
This means there are more of Stefan-Caroline-Valerie love triangle dramas that fans should not miss in the upcoming episodes of TVD.
“This season is about [our characters] growing up and becoming adults,” said Dries.
She also teased that Stefan’s experience of almost having a child is something that will be on his mind throughout this season. “He’ll keep thinking, ‘I could have been a dad.’ We had many ideas [for their backstory], but we felt this was the most symbolic and thematic,” said Dries.
The trailer of this week’s episode showed Caroline is encouraging Stefan to talk to Valerie. However, Stefan’s discovery that Valerie was once pregnant with his child will greatly affect the relationship known as “Steroline.”
The preview also revealed that Bonnie will begin to research about the Phoenix Stone to make sure that everything will go well when she used it to bring back Alaric’s wife from the dead.
It was previously reported that Alaric is planning to resurrect Jo by using the Phoenix Stone.
