The possibility of Elena Gilbert being brought back to life in “The Vampire Diaries” has been revived once more.
In an interview with TV Insider, Paul Wesley admitted that Elena’s role remains vital in the season seven of TVD.
“Elena’s still a very big part of the story. Her body’s in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up,” Wesley said.
“We all had imagined this complete reboot where Elena was gone, but she’s talked about so much!,” the actor added.
Wesley plays Stefan Salvatore, one of the main characters in the show.
Nina Dobrev, who portrayed Elena, had previously confirmed that she is not coming back to “The Vampire Diaries” amid reports that she is struggling landing a movie role since leaving the CW show.
“That chapter is closed, sadly — bittersweet,” Nina said.
Meanwhile, Alaric is planning to bring back Jo to life, using the Phoenix Stone, Yibada noted.
In the TVD season seven 7 premiere, Alaric was seen visiting a psychic because he don’t want to forget Jo.
Alaric brought Bonnie in on his plan to bring back Jo. However, when Bonnie looked at the Phoenix Stone, she got terrible visions, loss of time, and headaches.
Alaric claimed he already destroyed the Phoenix Stone, but Bonnie doubted it. Alaric eventually explained that he had to take the small chance that he can bring Jo back. Can the stone also bring Elena back to life? Possibly not.
Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie, also revealed to Us Weekly that episode five will feature a glimpse of her character’s future, including her love life.
Graham said, “You are going to see a love interest coming in Episode 5 in Bonnie’s flash forward. We get to see who she basically ends up with, which is very cool. And then you see a current, modern potential love interest coming this season also.”
“The Vampire Diaries” airs Thursdays on the CW at 8 p.m.
