Iconic Olympic athlete Usain Bolt has been collecting medals in the Rio Olympics 2016. Despite being in the middle of the Olympics, he has found time to keep himself updated with the start of the European football season. He even took the time to declare that he is a Real Madrid fan and believes that Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world.

After collecting his third consecutive gold medal in the men’s 100-m run, Diario AS reports that Usain Bolt spoke to the press. The topic steered from his own achievements and quickly shifted to football. Bolt is a well-known football enthusiast and is also a known Manchester United fan. However, when it comes to the Spanish La Liga, his allegiance lies with Real Madrid. He explains that this is because of their Portuguese superstar.

“I like them because Cristiano Ronaldo is there. He’s the best player in the world,” he said. Regarded as the fastest man ever timed, Bolt is an icon of athletics. Regardless if his opinion matters or not, the debate about who is the best player in the world has been an ongoing discourse among football fans. Cristiano Ronaldo is currently being pitted against Barcelona star Lionel Messi. However, both players have also been compared to legendary greats like Diego Maradona and Pele.

It comes as no surprise that Bolt has a strong admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo. After all, the Portugal captain made a name for himself at Old Trafford. He played with Manchester United before  moving to the Spanish capital. Bolt has visited Old Trafford in the past and is a very vocal supporter of Manchester United. Before winning his seventh total gold medal on Sunday, he even made time to watch Jose Mourinho’s side win their opening Barclays Premier League match against Bournemouth. He tweeted his delight at the team’s 3-1 victory.
