The United States’ 2016 Presidential Elections is just months away, but Kim Kardashian’s husband and rapper Kanye West might have political plans for 2020 as he announced his bid for presidency at MTV VMA 2015.

Yeezy received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award during the Aug. 30 event, CNN reported. Surprisingly, he ended his acceptance speech by declaring his intention to run for the 2020 presidential elections.

“I don’t know what I finna lose after this. It don’t matter, though; It’s not about me. It’s about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth,” he explained.

“And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

Is he serious? The crowd seemed puzzled after the announcement, as they thought that the rapper had “smoked something.”

“‘Did he smoke something before he came out here,’ the answer is ‘Yes, I rolled up a little something. I knocked the edge off,'” the rapper revealed.

His impromptu speech came after he contemplated on the controversial 2009 event when he took the microphone from the “Bad Blood” singer and VMA award winner Taylor Swift.

The rapper also said that it could have made a difference if he already had his daughter, North West, by the time he stole the moment from the young artist.

After his declaration, the Democrat’s official twitter account “welcomed” West in politics.

West and his wife Kim Kardashian were also present at a Democratic fundraiser for Hilary Clinton. The couple even had a selfie with the well-known politician.

Meanwhile, his ladylove looked dazzling during the annual awards night, The Daily Mail noted.

The reality star wore a long brown dress on her way to the show, showing off her baby bump. She later changed to a more glamorous outfit, sporting a Balmain lace-up safari dress.
