Season 2 of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” airs on Netflix on April 15. The show is one of the 13 shows the online streaming company has in line for 2016.
The comedy series is the collaborative work of Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. They were the same duo who created “30 Rock”.
Season 1 of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” premiered on Netflix last March 6, 2015. Critic consensus from Rotten Tomatoes was favourable.
It reads, “Blessed with originality and a spot-on performance from Ellie Kemper, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is as odd as it is hilarious.”
Actress Ellie Kemper plays the role of Kimmy Schmidt. It follows the life of an Indiana woman learning to adapt to life in the 21st century. Convinced by a doomsday cult leader of the apocalypse, she spent 15 years living underground.
When she resurfaced, she moved to New York in search of new beginnings.
Season 1 rated at 95 percent on the Tomatometer. It earned an audience score of 89 percent.
Season 2 promises fun and adventure as Schmidt continues her adjustment to city life. Slashfilm revealed she would be on the hunt for a new job. The show’s co-creator Robert Carlock spoke with HollywoodLife earlier about her new job.
Carlock revealed, “Kimmy does, very early, get her dream job, which is working at a year-round Christmas store. She can’t believe such a thing exists, where it’s Christmas every single day. It’s so perfect for her, and seeing her walk down the street in that elf costume was a very nice way to start the year.”
The second season also introduces the comedy for the summer, AVClub reported. The song entitled “Bunny and Kitty” is an ode to fluffy friends having fun. It is played at the one-minute mark of the trailer, the website noted.
