The rising popularity of UFC fighter Conor McGregor has resulted in a lot of fans as well as a whole bunch of haters. Many of these haters come from among the UFC fighters themselves. Despite this, fellow fighter Dominick Cruz reveals that in some cases, it’s really just a case of jealousy.
“I think what they’re upset at is the fact of how much money he’s made, how quickly and on his own,” said Cruz as he spoke with TMZ Sports. He clarified that many of the McGregor haters are not actually angry about the fighter’s attitude, but they are bitter about his success.
“That doesn’t make me hate him. That makes me try to understand the situation and make a better situation for myself,” added Cruz.
His comments came at the heels of a bold declaration by Cowboy Cerrone that none of the UFC fighters like Conor McGregor. He told Sports Illustrated that McGregor is “like a scared little kid.”
“He’s not one of the fellas, He’s not a good dude,” added Cerrone. In response to the criticism from Cerrone, McGregor has labeled him a “bitter old fighter.”
Despite his criticism of McGregor’s character, Cerrone admitted that the Irishman is good for the sport. He said that McGregor draws in the crowds and is doing a good job of promoting the UFC and himself, making a ton of money in the process.

Cruz thinks that attacking McGregor is not going to do anybody any good. “Hating somebody, being bitter at them for making more money than me, that’s only going to hold me back from doing what I want to do personally,” he said.
Despite the criticism that is being thrown his way, no one can deny that the upcoming UFC 205 featuring Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez is gearing up to be one of the biggest UFC events to date.
The event takes place on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2016 at Madison Square Garden, New York City.
