Liverpool host FC Augsburg in the 2nd leg of the UEFA Europa League last 32 round at Anfield on Thursday, Feb. 25, starting 6 PM GMT.
Liverpool will look to progress to last 16 stage after they managed to pull-off a 0-0 draw against the Bundesliga side, FC Augsburg, last week. Though the Reds hold a slight advantage over the visitors this week, a goal-less draw last week doesn’t provide any predictable result.
As per the BBC reports, striker Daniel Sturridge and midfielder Philippe Coutinho have returned after their respective hamstring injuries. Sources suggest that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is set to “risk” them ahead of Sunday’s Capital One Cup final against Manchester City.
“Games for players who didn’t play for a long time – like Phil and Daniel – are important for rhythm,” said Klopp.
Injury problems continue to pose a concern as the hosts will be without defender Dejan Lovren, Fellow centre-back Martin Skrtel, and midfielder Joe Allen. Forward Adam Lallana is not sure to play.
Speaking about the upcoming clash Klopp said,“To be honest it’s pretty easy, life makes the rules.”
“If you think about the second step before you make the first step you will always fall down.”
“We have to be fully concentrated and give everything against Augsburg. If you think about leaving this or this player out, for sure he will be injured in a training session. That’s not allowed. We will select just with this game in mind.”
As per the BT Sport, the hosts also have an “inconsistent” tag to shrug off their shoulders. Two big games are coming up this weekend and the Reds should produce top notch performances to edge past the winning score.
