Chelsea will host Paris Saint Germain in the second leg of the Champions League last-16 campaign on Wednesday, 9 March 2016, at Stamford Bridge starting 7:45 pm local time.
The French team holds advantage from their first-leg 2-1 win over Chelsea when they go into Wednesday night’s encounter. PSG received some good news ahead of their clash as their key midfield duo Marco Verratti and Blaise Matuidi were declared fit to play, notes SB Nation.
Diego Costa and Pedro are also expected to start proceedings for Chelsea in the high voltage match-up. Costa will play amidst transfer rumours to PSG. The man in blue could possibly make his way to the French Champions’ team in the summer trade ahead. Paris Saint-Germain are leaving no stones unturned for their summer raid ahead as they look forward to sign the Chelsea Striker in a multi-millionaire dollar deal.
According to Sky Sports reports, Chelsea captain John Terry has been ruled out for the crucial tie. The 35-year-old missed last five matches for Chelsea due to a hamstring injury. He took to Instagram to confirm his absence.
He wrote: “I’m gutted to be missing the PSG game. It’s so frustrating missing any game, but these big champions league nights at the bridge are unbelievable and it hurts as a player not to be involved.”
“I have thrown everything at my injury trying to get back fit but sometimes you have to let the injury settle, and thankfully I’m on the mend and hope to be back soon.”
Chelsea would be looking to reverse the 2-1 result as Guus Hiddink remained optimistic about their chances of making into the quarter-finals of the league. PSG, on the other hand, would want his top man Zlatan Ibrahimovic to come up with his A-game.
