True Detective Season 3 may not be finalized yet. But, a third season after a lackluster second may still be on its way. Now, the question is if Matthew McConaughey will be recalled for the season.

The first season was a massive hit. The second season, though it had some fine actors, failed to impress viewers. Season 2 had more actions and less mystery.

Season 1, on the other hand, had a certain charm about it. McConaughey paired up with Woody Harrelson to produce the finest entertainment on television. McConaughey and Harrelson were stunning.

But, Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell failed to bring back the charm of the first season. The result was obvious. Season 2 got poor ratings. As a result, there were speculations that True Detective Season 3 may never happen.

HBO’s president took responsibility for the poor ratings of the second season. “And I take the blame,” Esquire quoted the HBO president. “I became too much of a network executive at that point. We had huge success.”

Here is a reason why Season 3 is still a possibility. Even though HBO included True Detective in its ad of “completed” shows, it did not show Season 1 clips. According to True Detective Rumors, HBO may considering Season 2 as its own series and keeps the option open.

If HBO decides to renew the series, it may bring back the original pair that made the show what it was. However, it is an absolute speculation at the moment, as authorities are tight-lipped about the future of the show.

Meanwhile, McConaughey is quite busy in his movie career. US Civil War drama Free State of Jones has hit the theaters. According to Variety, the Oscar-winning actor’s performance in the movie has a “ravaged surface appeal.”

The fans, who are eagerly waiting for True Detective Season 3, are more eager to know if they get back Detective Rust or not.
