This is Us becomes the first freshman to score a full-season order. The thumping success of the pilot episode has driven NBC to pick up the show for an 18-episodes full season.  Going by the show’s success story, can we expect that the channel is also thinking of This is Us season 2?

NBC has given This is Us an 18-episode extension. The channel confirmed the news after adding five episodes to the mix on Tuesday. This is possibly one of the rarest incidents in the television history where a show received an instant  full-season order. It looks like NBC is in full swing to continue the show. Perhaps it is also considering running the show season-after-season. So, it won’t be surprising to hear the channel confirming This is Us season 2 anytime soon. Keep those fingers crossed!

Overjoyed executive producer Dan Fogelman stated:

“We are thrilled. This order for a complete first season of 18 episodes is exactly what we’d wanted and hoped for. We’d carefully mapped out an 18-chapter story for the first year of the show, and this allows us to follow through with our exact initial intent. And to get the order so early on is a tremendous show of confidence and a boost for our entire cast and crew.”

TVLine reports, The American TV drama debuted last Tuesday to 10.1 million total viewers and a 2.8 demo rating and even the official has collected more than 127 million views (since May 2016).  A noteworthy viewership indeed!

Dan Fogelman’s twisty family drama stars Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, Ron Cephas Jones Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore and newly minted Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown. The plot delves into the lives of people who not only share the same birthday, but also mysteriously connected to each other.

As of now, This is Us season 2 is just a speculation. However, considering the burgeoning fame of this two-episode-old show we are hopeful to hear an official confirmation on second season renewal, soon.
