Could The Host Korean movie be the film to watch for an extreme scare this Halloween 2016?
It is that time of the year again when everyone is looking for a good fright to knock their socks off their feet. Indeed, many are already looking for the right costume with just two weeks to go before Halloween. Thus, their choices of either gruesome or bizarre. Then again, there are those not keen on dressing up and would rather watch a great horror movie. Hence, could this flick from Korea be worthy to satisfy their need for terror?
In part, The Host could be a classic as it first came out in 2007. However, this particular monster movie from Korea would appear to have the right formula to ensure its viewers have a good fright.
The plot for the Host Korean movie centers on the rescue of Hyun-seo by her father Gang-du and her siblings after the monster abducted her. The notable performance of the father played by actor Song Kang-Ho offered the emotional aspect of the story. Indeed, his helpless look as the monster took away his daughter would break anyone’s heart Movie Pilot noted.
The backdrop for the film added to the creepy feeling as the characters make their way through the sewers. Incidentally, the monster in this particular Korean horror movie is not the typical mindless beast. Apparently, this creature offered a challenge to the characters in the story in terms of wit. Hence, the greater intensity of the action.
The Host Korean movie earned impressive ratings on Rotten Tomatoes with 93% on the Tomatometer and an audience score of 72%. Hence, the following critic consensus posted by the website.
“As populace pleasing as it is intellectually satisfying, The Host combines scares, laughs, and satire into a riveting, monster movie,” as posted on Rotten Tomatoes. Thus, this could be enough incentive to watch it.
