Ubisoft has released the Update 1.1 for “The Division”; however, some players have experienced a new issue to their games. It turns out that the characters went missing after players logged into their accounts shortly after the patch update. GameSpot reported on the incident.
Good thing is, Ubisoft noticed the issue and confirmed that if affected some of the players. They also addressed the issue by explaining how the bug caused some of the characters to be missing:
“The issue was caused by a malfunctioning server that couldn’t synchronize character data correctly and corrupted them instead,” the developer said. “The game client was unable to read this corrupted data, and simply assumed that the character didn’t exist. Once this has been identified, we were able to restore the server to its normal functions, thus ensuring that the issue will no longer occur for other players.”
For players that have experienced the bug, do not worry as the characters are still on the servers. Ubisoft will be preparing a small update to fix the issue, which means a temporary maintenance will be scheduled for the game. However, it was noted that even if the characters may be restored, some progress may be lost.
“Please note however that in order to make your character available, we will need to restore the latest uncorrupted save of your entire account, which happened during the server maintenance of April 12. In other words, your character will be back just as you left it on April 12 at 9am CEST | 3am EDT | 12am PDT. You will lose any progress made on this character or any other one from the same account between April 12 and the next maintenance. This only applies to players who have been affected by the missing character issue,” Ubisoft’s statement reads.
“The Division” has released its first major free content this month, which was Incursion (v. 1.1). An upcoming free content is expected this May.
