Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath , the bosses of NBC’s criminal thriller drama “The Blacklist”, has dropped some hints on what fans can expect when the series will return in Season 4. The hints majorly focus on the controversy related to Liz’s biological father.
Fans, thus far, have seen Kirk’s biggest revelation leading to another feud between him and Red. Here are some answers straight from the horses’ mouths.
Bokenkamp has discussed how things will turn for the worse. Liz will potentially be developing a close relationship with Red’s deadly enemy, Alexander Kirk, in “The Blacklist” Season 4. By the end of Season 3, Alexander Kirk revealed to Liz that he was her real father, which will eventually push her close to him.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, both Bokenkamp and Eisendrath gave a teaser on Liz’s relationship with Kirk. The girl has got mixed feelings about the revelation. Referring to it, Eisendrath commented: “She doesn’t know what has happened to either Tom or her child, so she’s concerned about her family, and she’s terrified that the fantasy life that she had hoped to carve out with Tom by faking her death is destroyed,” Melty reports.
Now the question arises whether Liz can trust Kirk. Bokenkamp stated: “I don’t know why we wouldn’t believe him. Red’s said before that he’s not Liz’s father. This man shows up in her life and says he’s her father. Liz should take him at his word. She thought she shot her father. It raises a number of questions, which is going to be the joy of Season 4.”
Eisendrath added: “We cannot unpack a story point like she thinks she shot her father and then introduce a new element that completely negates it, because that would damage our relationship with the audience and their trust in the story that we’re telling. All of the things that you would point to and add up on one side of the ledger that might discount this guy’s story about his being her father, we are responsible for next year and in years to come to incorporate it into the story that we’ve already told.”
Bokenkamp concluded: “What I do promise is that Alexander Kirk and his relationship to Liz will ultimately give us a far deeper understanding of Red’s relationship to Liz in Season 4.”
Well, it is confusing but not unrealistic. Many people may now wonder that if Kirk is Liz’s father, why has Reddington been acting so fatherly to her all of these years? Even some fans believe that Liz is actually Red’s daughter, born from his past affair with Katarina Rostova.
All questions will be answered in “The Blacklist” Season 4. Stay tuned for more updates.
